“We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give”Winston Churchill

The COVID-19 pandemic has reared its head across the world including India. The brunt has majorly been borne by populated cities like Mumbai, where the cases have been on the rise and both, the State and City Civic bodies, have been forced to take strong measures to control any further spread. Since the outbreak, the nation has witnessed several phases of lockdown and cities/states divided into zones based on the severity of cases. The lockdown imposed globally and nationally has pushed the World to a slow-track, affecting several businesses, daily wagers, and even access to essentials like food, medicine, hygiene kits, etc.

On the healthcare front, the government has taken steps to designate some government hospitals as dedicated COVID-19 centres. All fever and cough patients were diverted to a ‘Fever Clinic’. The Resident Doctors performed a preliminary examination and diagnosed the patient’s condition. Often the only equipment they had was a surgical mask despite being at the forefront of primary investigation and exposure. As the need for medical equipment support continued to rise, there was a palpable feeling that more could be done in this regard as well. The mission thus became to provide these doctors and paramedics on the frontline with the best protection using the best equipment available in the form of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits. Dream Sports employees came together and raised over Rs. 25,00,000 by voluntary donations. This enabled DSF to contribute a total of 3,500 PPE kits to doctors in fever clinics in various BMC hospitals.

Thanking Dream Sports Foundation, Suvedh from MCGM-CSR COVID Inventory Management Team, said, “We would like to acknowledge the receipt of 3500 PPE kits donated by your organisation. These PPE kits have been approved for use by our team of Microbiologists and given to our front-line heroes for use. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai is highly grateful to your organisation for this valuable support during the COVID times.”

Dream Sports, India’s leading sports technology company, through its philanthropic arm, Dream Sports Foundation (DSF), started playing an active and critical part in a number of relief efforts. Since March 2020, DSF has supported over 6 Lakh Indians by facilitating dry ration, pre-cooked meals, health and hygiene kits to the underprivileged and protective gear to the frontline workers of Govt of Maharashtra and BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). DSF has also contributed to the PM CARES and CM Relief fund for COVID-19.
